PAIN IN WATER

A Nightmare is made using broken glass, ink pens, acrylics, glue guns, and red thread. As it's shown in the title of this piece, this artwork shows that it is a dream. Nightmare reveals a scene of being sucked into a dream and expresses that the dream itself creates anxiety. The artwork has the dark and foggy backdrops that exclude black and white colors, however, using red and blue colors created strong ions and intense illusions of a hazy but memorable dream. To depict the background of falling asleep that enters to the dream, I drew five eyes that continuously opens and closes. There are a bunch of scribbled lines that are made with ink pens to create a lively scene. Some red threads are used to represent scene where people fall into their dreams and made a thread go diagonally across the painting to portray the scary scenes from dreams. In addition, the different sizes of glass shreds convey the pain in each dream. There is a combination of acrylic and water mixed up that flows down to create a dark atmosphere, connecting it to the title, A Nightmare. And as using a medium called glass that has a sharp image, communicated as like a dream that people don't want to dream of, and knowing that people are being able to get hurt. Finally, those all materials are connecting the nightmares to reality.
