GRANDFATHER
Colored pencil and pastel on printed watercolor paper, 45cm×60cm, 2023
This is the first piece that envisions the third-person point of view. A series of landscapes presenting love.
The coexistence of past and present. Embraced my loved one in the landscape. The landscape that existed at any moment, and perhaps longing for those who have departed.

HOUSE OF ROSE OF SHARON
Pens and Marker on Paper, 20.32cm×27.94cm, 2023
This imaginary artwork is referred to old fantasy maps. I researched various angles of compasses and drew a lying-down compass. I used a black marker as a base to emphasize more than the other components in the drawing. Added constituent of the compass with a white pen. After examining the various compositions of the map, I included the mysterious ship, house, and fiery flower cave. I decided on pen and marker as medium and applied them to exhibit the characteristics of the waves, the appearance of the flower, and other plants in the background. Moreover, I included the Rose of Sharon flower (Mugunghwa) that represents my culture which is Korea. This flower pattern is commonly seen in Asian art which was especially seen in celadon or tile-roofed houses. In the old records, Mugunghwa was valued as the flower of heaven also called Mugunghwa country before Korea was created during the Silla era. Also included in the national anthem. By researching and using these flowers to represent my country, I created a new work related to my identity.

IRONIC DOG CAFE
Pen and Marker on Illustration Board, 32cm×45cm, 2018
This work is a drawing of a cafe; however, ironically enough, the only foods in the cafe are dogs. Criticizing how some humans eat dogs, the work beautifies the cruelty of dog-eating cultures by illustrating a beautiful antique cafe where people enjoy going. This drawing was created in hopes to end the dog-eating practice. The juxtaposition of the cafe decorations and dogs in the cafe creates irony since the two elements are not usually relatable to each other.
